An Extended Functional Representation in Temporal Planning: Towards Continuous Change
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper is concerned with temporal planning relying on CSP-based functional representations. These powerful representations are today mostly restricted to the use of piecewise constant functions ranging over finite domains. We are proposing here an extension that brings a significant enhancement in the expressiveness of the representation, towards handling continuous change. This extension consists mainly in allowing piecewise linear functions over continuous domains. We have studied this extension and are currently implementing it in the IXTET planner. However this extended representation is not specific to IXTET; it can be useful to most temporal planners. We show how IXTET syntax, planning algorithm and control can be simply extended to this class of functions. We then consider the more significant modifications required in the two constraints managers for handling temporal and atemporal CSPs.

Temporal Planning in Domains with Linear Processes
We consider the problem of planning in domains with continuous linear numeric change. Such change cannot always be adequately modelled by discretisation and is a key facet of many interesting problems. We show how a forward-chaining temporal planner can be extended to reason with actions with continuous linear effects. We extend a temporal planner to handle numeric values using linear programmi...
متن کاملShiraz Urban Sprawl and Its Structural-Functional Changes of Rural Neighborhood Case: Goyom village
Introduction: Urban sprawl is one kind of urban expansion or its characteristics, which has a negative general view. Based on given definitions, the most important characteristics of urban sprawl can be thought as low-density, strip like, diffuse, non-continues and land use segregation expansion. However, density is the most common criteria of urban sprawl that is derive by the comparison of...
متن کاملMixed Propositional Metric Temporal Logic: A New Formalism for Temporal Planning
Temporal logics have been used in autonomous planning to represent and reason about temporal planning problems. However, such techniques have typically been restricted to either (1) representing actions, events, and goals with temporal properties or (2) planning for temporally-extended goals under restrictive conditions of classical planning. We introduce Mixed Propositional Metric Temporal Log...
متن کاملCOLIN: Planning with Continuous Linear Numeric Change
In this paper we describe COLIN, a forward-chaining heuristic search planner, capable of reasoning with COntinuous LINear numeric change, in addition to the full temporal semantics of PDDL2.1. Through this work we make two advances to the state-of-the-art in terms of expressive reasoning capabilities of planners: the handling of continuous linear change, and the handling of duration-dependent e...
متن کاملTemporal Planning with Continuous Change
we present ZENO, a least commitment planner that handles actions occurring over extended intervals of time. Deadline goals, metric preconditions, metric effects, and continuous change are supported. Simultaneous actions are alIowed when their effects do not interfere. Unlike most planners that deal with complex languages, the ZENO planning algorithm is sound and complete. The running code is a ...
